Oh How Happy

Oh, How Happy by the Shades of Blue

I woke up this morning to the song Oh, How Happy by the group called the Shades of Blue arranged in 1966. You might ask, did your alarm radio come on and that's when you heard it? Nope, I woke up and the song just blasted into my mind. Sometimes when things like this occur, I can attribute it to hearing the song on the radio the day before, but today's event just happened. I didn't even listen to the radio, yesterday.

And it looks like the Jackson Five did a version in 1970.

What does all this mean in the greater scheme of life? Nothing much, but it was interesting to me. Yesterday, my wife and I took our annual pilgrimage to Holy Hill Basilica in Wisconsin. It's a two-hour drive (one way) from where we live, that we try to do every Lent. The church sits high on a hill in the forests of Wisconsin, north of Milwaukee.

The day was bitter, 35 degrees Fahrenheit, with an eighteen miles an hour breeze blowing, which took the wind chill temperature way lower. They have a wonderful stations of the cross set up with near life size stations up the hilly path. My wife and I almost froze, stopping at each station, reading the appropriate section of the book, and then proceeding to the next station. But it was still a wonderful experience.

I was able to write in the morning, getting in 538 words before having to disengage and leave for Wisconsin. I slept well last night, probably from walking in the brisk air.

Here's a look at my current progress in Book 5, currently titled, The Portal. That will change once I complete the story. It shows a goal of 50K words, but that was because I just learned of the tool a week ago. My real goal is 80K words and the graph just looks better if I only show what's left to complete. I supposed I could go in and fill in all the previous days I have on my spreadsheet. The tracking tool is something users of StoryOrigin get with their subscription.

Current Track of my Writing for Book 5

I bit the bullet and came back and updated my goal tracker to cover the full 80K words I'm targeting for the book.

Here's the goal tracker showing the full progress for the anticipated 80K word novel.

I had a number of people ask me how this Goal Tracker was created. It's an author tool from StoryOrigin.(Affiliate Link)
