Rain, Snow, Running, and Becoming a Recluse

We've had a lot of rain and a little bit of snow the last few days. As I ran by the marshy area near my home, the water levels in the marsh were high. We would have to get a lot more rain for the water level to be a problem in the swamp. The wetlands area was already there when they built the neighborhood where I live. A natural retention pond. It's a nice area and over the years I've seen egrets, frogs, ducks, a weasel, and blue herons in the water.

I did some weightlifting this morning and then went for a four mile run. I'm happy to be back outside with my running. I had been going to the gym to run on their treadmills, but that gets boring. Nothing better than running outside in the sunshine and feel the wind on your face.

A blooming Christmas Cactus

My wife and I had a laugh this weekend while we watched a TV show where one of the characters talked about moving to an island and becoming a recluse. I said, "That's what I need to do, move to an island and become a recluse." My wife responded, "You're already a recluse."

You know, I think she's half right. My wife does most of the shopping and short trips around town. I stay at home writing and thinking and I do some housework. I don't get out much. I'm always happy to go someplace if invited, but I don't really go out of my way to invite myself to other's houses or to invite them to my house or plan a fun get together with loved ones.

My wife made cookies on Sunday while I watched NCAA basketball games. I'm surprised at the teams that won and made it to the final four. You just never know who's going to win the games. Since it's not the same old teams that make it every year, I might just watch to see who can put together the magic to win it all.

A picture of a blooming Christmas Cactus. It's blooming inside a house in late March.

Two of our Christmas Cactus have decided to bloom. We aren't sure what motivates them to bloom, but we're always happy to enjoy their beauty.

Cheers and Happy Monday.
